Wisdom Tooth Surgery

Controlled removal of impacted or partially impacted wisdom teeth that may cause pain, pressure or infection.

What Are the Advantages of This Treatment?

  • Detailed radiographic mapping: before surgery, the tooth position and nearby anatomical structures are assessed carefully so the safest surgical route can be planned.

  • Atraumatic technique: we aim to remove the tooth with as little trauma to surrounding bone and soft tissue as possible.

  • Swelling minimization: surgical planning, post-operative instructions and supportive care help keep recovery more manageable.

Treatment Stages

1

Diagnostic Assessment

Panoramic and clinical evaluation is used to assess the angulation of the tooth, surrounding bone and important nearby structures before any procedure begins.

2

Access and Separation

When the tooth is buried within bone or soft tissue, controlled access is created and the tooth may be sectioned to allow safer removal.

3

Atraumatic Removal

The tooth is elevated and removed with a technique intended to reduce trauma and preserve surrounding tissues as much as possible.

4

Cleaning and Closure

The socket is cleaned thoroughly and, where needed, the area is closed carefully to support comfortable healing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my face swell a lot after impacted wisdom tooth removal?+

With an atraumatic surgical approach and proper aftercare, swelling is usually kept under control. Ice compresses and the medication plan provided after treatment help reduce the intensity and duration of swelling.

How long will I need to avoid solid food?+

The soft tissues usually settle significantly within the first few days. During the early healing period, softer foods are generally more comfortable, after which patients gradually return to their regular diet.

What happens if an impacted wisdom tooth is not removed?+

Impacted wisdom teeth do not always need removal, but when they remain in a poor position they can contribute to repeated gum infection, pressure, damage to neighboring teeth or cyst formation over time.

Will I feel pain during the procedure?+

The surgery is carried out under effective local anesthesia, so patients should not feel pain during the procedure itself. Mild soreness afterward is expected and is managed with medication and aftercare guidance.

Can all four wisdom teeth be removed in one session?+

In appropriate clinical cases, yes. Removing multiple wisdom teeth in one surgical session can reduce the need for repeated healing periods, although suitability depends on the complexity of the case.

Will the stitches dissolve on their own?+

When resorbable sutures are used, they generally soften and dissolve on their own over time, which means a separate stitch-removal appointment may not be necessary.

When can I return to work or school?+

Many patients return to normal routine within a few days, although that depends on the complexity of the surgery and the individual healing response.

Is there a risk of nerve damage?+

When lower wisdom teeth are close to important nerve structures, careful imaging and surgical planning are essential. This is why detailed pre-operative assessment is such an important part of treatment.
